M.v.p was in a good mood he had won another game. He knew it was a good thing and part of him did feel guilty after all he had an advantage, still he had earned it spent all his life training to be this good so it was only fair that he used it? Its not like he was on drugs or anything like that he was just working at peak human levels. He was not a mutant or super powered. he looked up and had noticed that he was in a narrow street. He looked on it was a dead end. Grate he thought. he was tempted to climb over but did not see the point. The next turning would do.
HE started down and his path was blocked by about five people one of them spoke.
"Hey look its that Van Patrick kid, i lost a lot of money because of you and i want it back." Grate drunk gamblers. HE was not really was not wanting a fight.
"Look guys its not my fault your team sucked." he lifted his hands to show that he was not going to do anything stupid.
the lead guy spoke again"Here what your going to do, your going to throw the game or we are going to make you miss it." He pulled out a blade as his mates started to laugh.
"Look i am not going to do that. Its sport its not meant to be rigged and beside you could just bet on me to win?" He smiled he could probably take one or two before the others over powered him. How the hell was he going to get out of this one. he started to look for some way out.

Except for the occasional Yankees game, Steve didn't pay alot of attention to sports, prefer to spend his free time in the gym, which was exactly where he was walking out from, when his enhanced hearing happened to pick up the drunken slurs that the gamblers were shouting. Knowing how quickly tempers could flair up, especially when alcohol was involved, he wasted no time in running towards the alley, where he saw the men about to attack a young boy. "Now is this anyway to behave? Attacking someone half your age?" He asked, as he walked up behind one of the men, before grabbing him by the back of his neck, and slamming his face into the brick wall. As the unconscious man crumbled to the ground, two more turned and ran stright at Steve, beleiving their superior numbers would make the fight easier for them. Sighing, as he knew that even sober they would not be able to beat him, he ducked under their right hooks, and threw two stright punches into their fat guts, sending both men to the ground, in a heap. He then look at the last two remaining men, a determined look in his eyes that told both of them that they were beaten. "Well boys, it's your move, what's it going to be?"

M.V.P was stunned he had heard about him, seen him on the t.v but never in real life. he had tried before to figure out the mans move but seeing them like this it was clear, he did not have moves he only had the one it was like watching art the way the man moved. He had been told the way he was he could be like that be like that. He did not realize what that meant until now.
On the sports field with skill like that he could be one of the best. he would then use his fame to help others keep kids of drugs. He would be a legend like the man his grate grandfather created. he watched as the men ran away they clearly were not that stupid.

As the man turned and ran away, Steve dropped his fighting stance and relaxed, before walking over to the young man. "Are you alright, son?" Even though the boy wasn't his son, and he didn't know of their connection, he called him that out of habit. It was what men from his generation called young boys, and he never saw any reason to stop just because he looked like he was in his mid-twenties. His eyes showed a genuine concern for the boy's safety, as he went to place a hand on his shoulder. "You mind telling me what that was all about?" He didn't like to see kids getting bullied, as he knew all to well how that felt, being a young, skinny kid, growing up in the Bronx and being smaller than most other kids his age. Still, this didn't feel like just another case of one kid getting picked on, mainly because his attackers weren't kids, but grown men, who seemed to have a personal vendetta against the boy.

"yeah thanks , Well what it was is the bet on the other team and well tehy lost and wanted me to throw a game so they could win. To me that's American. so they were going to try and make sure i missed the enxt game. If you ask me it was not a fair fight."
He was cocky but he knew what he could do. He looked as one of the men had some how gotten up and was moving to stab cap in the back. M.V.P moved quickly probaly fatster than some one of his age should be able to and drove his sholder in to the mans gut, Taking him down as if he was another football player. Just as quickly M.V.P managed to spring him self up to his feet. HE probably used a bit to much force but then he was use to hitting people with padding.

"Yeah, well it was five against one, even though they were out of shape...." Steve was cut off, when MVP bolted with the speed of an Olympian level track star, going shoulder first into his opponent and sending back on his back. It was then that he understood what the kid was saying, when he talked about the fight being unfair. "I take it you didn't really need any help back there, after all. Not bad, son." He went to extend his hand to him, when MVP did a kick up, landing on his feet. He knew there was something different about this kid, as he had never seen someone so young, who was so gifted, with the exception of Eli Bradly, and he was a supersoldier, which made Steve wonder if the same wasn't true for him, aswell. "What's your name, son?"

Michael Van Patric sir, your knew my grate grandfather Dr Abraham Erskine sir." HE looked down at the man he had just taken out. he was not showing off by doing this it was just the way he been raised if some one helps you out you do the same. HE just been helped out so it was only fair. This was going to be hard to explain. Yes he was technically a super soldier but he had not taken the drugs that Mr Rodgers had. He did find it funny his dad had done with a hand full of vedge what the U.S. Army had done with million dollar budget . It was laughable at times. He ran his hand threw his hair not many people could make M.V.P nerves but this was one of those people he was an icon to the world.

A smile finally appeared on his face, as the boy told him who he was. He had heard of him, but to actually see him in action, it was awe inspiring, to say the least. "So you're Dr. Erskine's Great-grandson?" So, the kid is a supersoldier, though unlike the rest of us, he wasn't exposed to the drug, but the fruit that it came from, instead. He looks healthy enough, but he wasn't exposed to the Vita-ray, which means he may suffer the same ill-effects that McIntyre and my Cold-War imposter suffered from. Still, probably best not to mention that, as I don't want to risk worring him about something that might not happen. I'll just keep an eye on him...for now. He thought, as he looked down as the three men on the ground, none of them moving. Feeling it was best to call the authorities, Steve pulled out his Avengers Communi-card and cntacted the police to pick up the men, as well as the two who ran off.
After contacting the police, he turned back towards MVP, wondering if he would be a good canadate for the Initive School that the Avengers were sponsering through SHIELD. "Tell me Mr. Van Patrick, have you given much thought to what you want to do after you graduate from collegue?"

"well i am going to try out of the NFL. I've got a football scholarship and i always enjoyed playing and its a way to help people and do something i enjoy. the only problem is i don't know if any team will take me. when they hear who i am related to the jump to the conclusion that i have the S.S.S running threw my body. When in fact all it is, is fresh air healthy living and a good exercise. But the fact that my body preforms at peck rate all the time worry them they think i got an unfair advantage. I Never needed to take anything a day in my life not even aspirin. I know that the world will look at me difrently but i can show the world what health living can really do."
Its all he ever wanted to do since he could remember was play football. it had been his drive threw all teh years of training and pushing . he did wonder what would happen if he did have teh s.s.s. running threw his body as well as the training.

Kid reminds me of Dennis, wanting to follow his dreams, despite how dangerous it is. The only difference is Dennis has a heart problem, while the kids problem is his fear of what other people think of him, not that I'm one who should judge him, considering how affraid I was about the Avengers' public image just a few days ago. As Steve compared MVP to D-Man, he also wondered if he didn't actually indeed have the Supersoldier Serum, or at least it's unprocessed state, in him. After all, it was possible that the "mystery" fruit that he was noted for eating, was the orrigional source of the serum that his Great-grandfather created nearly fifty years ago. Still, he knew it wouldn't serve any perpuse for him to jump to conculsions without any facts.
"Well, I highly doubt that the NFL will turn anyone down that can earn them money, espiscally after all the players that openly use steriods and other enhancement drugs. If they did, they would have to let alot of their more popular players go, aswell." He always thought it was somewhat hypacrical how people got up in arms about baseball players and MMA athleats who used preformance enhancing products, but no one seemed to bat an eye when a football player was caught using those very same products. It was almost enough to make him wonder why they even bothered worring or even talking about it, when it didn't stop or even slow the use or distrabution down. "Tell me, Have you ever heard of the Superhero Initive?"

"yeah i just hope so. i hate that people use drugs just so they can be good at sports its not fair." he laughed at the comment about the school. "Yeah i have heard of it, but only whats been said in the papers." in truth he knew were this was going, he had some one bring this up before to him that girl Sephira? no that's not right but something like that, she had brought it up to him about him becoming a hero. he moved to wards the wall and leaned agenst it to listen tpo what he had to say.

"Well you might not like it, but as long as parents and coaches put so much pressure on kids, athletes will continue to use them, just to keep up with the demands of schools and their scouts. We place so much pressure on kids these days, that I'm actually surprised it's not worse then it is." Steve crossed his arms, his thoughts turning to all the kids he had met over the years, that had ruined their bodies all to please their parents and coaches, or in an attempt to "make it" in the big leagues. The sad part was that these kids had no idea the damage these drugs were doing, not only to their bodies, but also their minds. He sighed, before looking back at MVP, again.
"Well it's a school of sorts for young meta-humans ran by the Avengers and backed by SHIELD, that train them how to use their abilities so that they can better control them. It's sort of like the X-Men, only it's open to mutants and humans, alike. The top graduate is offered a spot on the Avengers' main team, if they chose to become heroes." Steve thought MVP would make an excellent candidate for the program, and hoped he would atleast think about joining.

"wow the avengers that is big. The thing is you heroes have such a bead press lately," it was clear it was a weak argument for the boy. The challenge was well tempting. he had always pushed him self but now he was finding hard to find way to help push him self. even coach who was a known Taskmaster when it came to training his young rising stars was finding it hard to push the boys limits. He ran his hair threw his hands. "You really think i have what it takes?" he wanted to know after all cap represented the best in every one. A man like that would not lie or even suggest it if he did not believe it.
"The thing is i owe it to the team to stay in collage and help get us there its only fair they given me so much, beside i don't think coach would be to happy losing me or for that matter the dean." The Dean he had snapped up MVP as quickly as he could he wanted the win and well some one like him could give The Dean what he wanted.

Steve had to admit that heroes as a whole weren't getting the good press that they had been, years before, which was the main reason for the registration and the Initiative School. These didn't guarantee that this would improve the situation, but it was better than the alternative of leaving it all in the hands of corporate politicians and businessmen who knew nothing about what heroes did or went through everyday. "I can't argue with you, about our bad press, but then this isn't a popularity contest, just ask Spider-Man or The X-Men. However, we do want to keep the publics trust, and I believe that the Initiative School goes a long way in doing exactly that."
He didn't want to even think about what would have happen if the Government and SHIELD hadn't agreed to let the Avengers over see the registration and Initiative, which was the only reason he agreed to support the SHRA in the first place. Had they fought it, Steve feared that it would have led to a civil war, splitting the hero community apart and destroy countless lives along the way. It also would have caused a rift between heroes that he wasn't sure would have ever been repaired, and that was his greatest fear of all.
"From what I have heard, you stand a good chance of making it, but if I may be so bold, I have to say that just because you're said to be the best, doesn't mean you are the best. You are said to be as good as a super soldier, but I have have met alot of men and women that were in as good of shape as any supersoldier, but when put to the ultimate test, they weren't heroes. To be a true hero, you must be able to think under fire, put the needs of others before your own, and the most important, when you believe in something, you must be willing to fight for it, even if the entire world are against it." As alway, every word he said, came from his heart, sincere and true.

"Just like being in a football team. You see when you got the ball you not just got to think about were the other team is but were your team is, you have to trust them know they will back you up. There the crowd you got to take it all in and think of what going on and how best to get to the goal. You have to put your own goals behind the win for the team. The only problem is i don't know if my coach would let me go. It sounds like i could really get a chance to do some good and push my self."
