It was that time of month again for the various teams about the Helicarrier and Sage sat as always in the conference room awaiting the arrival of one team in particular. There was no significant reason for this briefing other than for the members to familiarize themselves with one another and for her to receive a group update on how their individual operations had been running. Of course she’d read the written reports but she wanted to hear it face to face from the agents. Soon enough she would have them join together for missions but until she had assembled all the members she wanted for this team it had been more beneficial for them to work as individuals or pairs.
Now however their individual operations would be minimized as she had acquired the final member she had been looking for. Now their skills would really be put to the test as would their abilities to work as part of a team. Each had been chosen for their individual skills and talents and it would be interesting to see how they merged them in order to do their job efficiently and in the best manner possible. It was just a case of awaiting their arrival and from the time her glasses showed her every member were already running late.

*I am NPCing Adele Westin (Dryad) with the player's (and admin's) permission*
Adam and Adele showed up almost on time, at least - they hadn't even been on the Helicarrier when they'd gotten the message about the meeting. Someone had neglected to get him the memo earlier this morning when he'd actually been there, which rather precluded him knowing about it. He and his sister hadn't been working for SHIELD long enough to have the sort of information-gathering network most of the more experienced agents had.
What he DID have was the ability to fly at supersonic speeds, which had almost made up for him not knowing until the last minute. It hadn't, though the fact that apparently he and his twin were the first ones to arrive mitigated the embarrassment somewhat. Of course... it also meant they were alone in the room with Sage, and Adam felt a light shiver run down his spine. Just keep making great impressions with the boss-lady, don't we sis...?
You're the one with the mouth... I stay quiet.
Yeah, yeah...
He was glad for his telepathic link with her, but what she usually lacked in sarcasm externally, she tended to make up for inside her mind, often directed at him. All things considered, he didn't mind much. Their link also made it awful hard to be mad at one another, after all.
"Director" he said, nodding his head, and Adele echoed him, making sure to delay a bit so they didn't say it at the same time. The whole creepy-twin bit was a game they'd played as kids, but sometimes the telepathic link made it slightly involuntary, so they had to make an effort now and then to avoid it. He spent a moment looking around, then slipped into one of the seats, and Adele sat next to him, setting the little potted plant she was carrying in her lap - they hadn't had time to drop it off before they showed up, but Adele almost always had a few live plants with her. Anyone who'd seen her in action understood why.
Adam busied himself preparing a subtle barrier around himself, unless the Director decided to gas them this time, too... never hurt to be prepared, after all. It wasn't solid, or anything even close, just enough to keep drifting air currents away from him.

“Well aint this a merry ol’meet and greet.” Spider-Girl chirped from above them, sticking on the ceiling as her symbiote reshaped and recolored itself to show the young heroin. “You know we have meeting after meeting after meeting… when do we start protecting the planet boss… I mean really.” She sighed using her best Austin Powers impersonation and with an acrobatic back flip from the ceiling landed upright on the floor beside Sage.
The cocky woman smirked under her mask and sat down in the chair, nodding towards the twins and flung her arms behind her hair in a relaxed position. “And our feature presentation is?” She cocked her head in the Directors position then towards the door in anticipation for whoever was next. “And where may I ask are the refreshments? I was told their was gonna be coffee and donuts!” He paused and then mimicked a Homer Simpson drooling sound. “Mmmmm Donuts….”

Damien followed the twins in silently, his long leather coat hiding his bat like wings and covering the majority of his uniform which in reality was his old X-Men uniform with a few upgrades. He said nothing but did nod at his potential team mates and smirked as Spider-Girl gave her own little purr like growl as he rounded the table. He also glared in Sage’s direction before taking a seat.
“So what is this all about.” He had a feeling that it was about forming this new Super-Human team he had heard several of the normal human agents and squads whispering and sometimes openly complaining about. The consensus was that the most recent incarnation of the Howling Commandos was bad enough with its supernatural’s and monsters but it seemed to many that Sage was now bringing in more Super-Humans, more of her kind and forgetting about the normal humans whose backs and labor SHIELD was build upon. He himself had received his fair share of dirty looks since his arrival and at first he had thought it was because of his attack on Sage and several other agents while possessed fully by Legion, in truth over time he had found it was because he was a mutant, and that surprised him the most, that SHEILD who was sworn to protect all the worlds peoples, including his kind, could be filled with so many bigots. “You have me on a tight, all be it pointless, training schedule and I don’t have a lot of time before my meditation class with the Buddhists.” He wondered if that sounded to as odd to the others as it did to him even though, if anyone knew his situation other then Sage and himself, it would make perfect sense.

Watching as all the agents for this particular team filed into the room, some offering apologies for being late others not Sage sat back calmly and waited until all were seating before addressing the room. “Spider-Girl that is enough, this meeting was not called just so you could act like a fool” she started glaring coldly at the woman before turning her attention to Damien “And you MacLeod lose the attitude, this meeting will not interfere with the training schedule I have put in place for you” she paused briefly her eyes scanning the room before they rested on the Black Widow. “Natasha if you will start by presenting the results of your individual operations for the month” she said before sitting back and listening as the woman began to recount the subterfuge operations on a downtown Hydra warehouse.
When the Black Widow had finished Sages eyes once again began to scan the room carefully looking to select her next...victim? They rested on the Westin twins “Adam, Adele if you will update the rest of the team on your operations this month, the rest of the team and myself would I’m sure like to hear how your much intelligence you have managed to gather on....” She was cut off as a communication reached her earpiece making her stop abruptly. Listening in carefully her lips pursed together tightly while her hands went to work pulling up her holographic screens in front of her. Images flashed across them rapidly as she pulled them from one screen to the rest ignoring the team for the moment before finally the holographic screens faded away.
“It seems that our monthly recount will have to be postponed, you have a mission” As she spoke the giant screen behind her lit up and began to show an image of the area surrounding New York Harbour as the image zoomed in it showed what seemed to be a fight between two powerful super powered beings “We have just received word that this pair have already damaged three buildings with their powers and taken out some civilian police officers so it is your job to go down there and diffuse the situation as quickly as possible so I can send in a clean up crew”

Adam laughed a little when Spider Girl made her entrance, or perhaps she'd just been there, but he shook his head, shrugging. "Oh, you know they lie about that sort of thing to rope you in. If you're at an office where that turns out to be true, chances are they're just trying to fatten you all up so you can't get out of your cubicle."
He grinned up at her a moment, then glanced over to the door, lifting a brow slightly as the new guy walked in. Didn't he remember an alert about that guy? Something about him beating up Sage...? He'd heard plenty of rumors about THAT. Most of them quieted pretty quick though. Noone really wanted to piss off the Boss Lady... he wondered if it had been like that with Fury, too. Or maybe Sage really was scarier. Either way, things settled down fairly soon, and he leaned back in his chair, trying his best to be attentive - Black Widow's presentations were rarely boring - thanks in part to her outfits, of course, a thought which earned him a light punch on the arm from his sister - and usually relevant, but it still felt far too much like school to him, these meetings always did.
Adam had not been a very good student. Too much time spent trying to obtain enough money for him and his sister to live on to study hard. And he'd be the first to admit he'd had a bit of a... respect problem for most of his teachers.
Sage's selection of them as the next presentation snapped him out of it, though, and he stood, Adele standing at the same time, though they paused, frowning slightly in almost identical fashion, as Sage broke off and went to her holographic screens. Adam looked to Spider Girl and Demon, shrugging slightly, and Adele watched the screens, trying to catch a glimpse of what was on them, though as usual Sage moved much too fast for anyone with a more normal brain to follow.
Both twins were looking when she brought up the video of the fight, and Adele winced slightly, watching as one of the trees caught aflame, and Adam rested a hand on her shoulder a moment before nodding to the orders, taking a breath and looking up to Sage, back in business mode. For all his usual easygoing behavior, he did his best to know when to be serious...
"On it." He looked to the others, then, zipping up his jumpsuit. "I can be there in twenty seconds, but I can probably only take two along, three, tops... even that's pushing it. The rest will have to come in by VTOL" He was used to carrying Adele, but both of them had an easier time using their abilities to affect one another, another aspect of their linked powers. Still, of everyone there, he doubted anyone else could break the sound barrier on the way to the venue... and from the looks of things, someone needed to get there immediately. So he looked to see who volunteered...

Spider-Girl grimaced as Sage called her down but then shrugged and sat up straight in a more formal manner, back straight, eyes locked onto Sage and then Black Widow as they both gave their presentations. She knew there was always room for a little fun but she also knew when to cut the shit and be serious and this was one of those times. She had several questions for the Widow but as they sped through the presentations she would hold off till later on that account. Her eyes then turned to the twins as they stood to start their own presentation and then could not help but chuckle and notice Damien’s smirk as Adam shrugged at Sages interruption. By now Spider-Girl was used to such spontaneous occurrences by their beloved Director. If she could under her mask or dared to mentally retract the symbiotic material she would have quietly mouthed to the twins that this was the norm around here but Sage did not give her the time to do so as she made it clear they had a new opp. to tackle.
“Who is involved? Any specs on who between the two is the primary target is or are they both to be taken down?” She finally chirped up in a no-nonsense tone knowing now it was really time to get down to business. “What are the estimated percentages of collateral damage in this battle and has the area been evacuated yet?” She looked between Sage and her fellow team mates waiting to see their reactions at her serious side. It wasn’t often she showed it, she took more after Peter then she did Jessica but when it came down to it she was just as much Jessica, the steel hearted cool as ice warrior.

Damien said nothing, only shooting Sage another glare as she spoke to him then softened his stare for Black Widow as she gave her report and then towards the twins whom he nodded too then smirked as Sage interrupted. Typical were his thoughts but he said nothing, only watched as she went through he holographic display, catching quick bits and pieces of the screen before she moved on to the next. Whatever was going on it was happening on Staten Island and it involved two powers going at one another. His perceptions were confirmed when she told them they had a new mission and gave them, in his opinion, the briefest of brief rundowns. It was only as she displayed the picture for them to see, that his heart jumped into his throat. He could not make out who the two fighting were but the powers of one of the combatants was all too painfully familiar in their natural furiosity.
“You know who’s down there…” He said coldly towards Sage and then stood. “You know what’s going on Director.” He too, like Spider-Girl, suddenly took on a stance of no nonsense all business as he would in any operation. “Spider-Girl is right, from the looks of those pictures we need the area evacuated, quarden off and secured. Reduce the chance of civilian casualties. We should also post squads…” Slowly Damien stood his training as an X-Man and a leader, despite not being the leader of this team, came flooding back to him. He would do his job and if it was who he feared it may be out there he would put his emotions aside as best he could to complete the mission. “Here, Here and Here.” He pointed to map of the area which came up on the holographic screens. “These are the most likely escape routs for anyone wishing to flea the scene.” He looked to Sage and then Black Widow who nodded in approval towards her team. “If I’m right on who one of the combatants are then it won’t be easy… and you know it.” He looked again to Sage as he spoke, his tone cold and all business. “She won’t go down easy and if we try to assert authority over her she will only rage back… This needs to be handled with tact and care if you want much of the island left when this is over.”

"Do not speak to me in that manner MacLeod, I have only this instant received the report and displayed it for all to see" she said coldly rising to her feet before continuing turning her back to the group. "Spider-Girl i want you to take charge of evacuating the area, Black Widow minimize publicity, Macleod, Zephyr and Dryad i want you three to take down the two individuals, you have the authorization to use lethal force if required...I don't care who they are or who started it but i want it cleaned up as soon as possible...Is that understood?" she finished turning to face the group again.
"I will monitor from here and if i feel things are getting out of hand or that you cannot deal with the tasks handed to you i will not hesitate to send in other teams to do the jobs that i have asked, now get down there now"

Zephyr and Dryad watched as the others put in their two cents, and Adam's brow lifted just slightly as Spider Girl suddenly shifted into serious mode - he hadn't known she was capable of that. Not that he'd ever doubted her skill in combat or professionalism, but seeing her miss a chance to poke fun... well that just seemed off kilter. Demon's words, though, were more worrying... apparently he had a personal connection to one of the offending targets, and if what he'd said about her powers was true, well... it was going to be a real issue. Adam shook his head a little, then looked to Black Widow. "Widow, you can handle your end from VTOL, right? I doubt I can handle all five of us." Widow's job didnt require her to be on top of the action, which meant she could afford to be a little behind, and manage the media exposure from above. "Da. Meet you there." She started off, and Adam looked to the others. "Alright, let's get to the flight deck. We can be there in thirty. Spider Girl, I'll drop you off when we get close." He glanced to his sister a moment, the two obviously exchanging something silently, then he turned and jogged for the door. Adele remained behind for a moment, putting her hand lightly on Demon's arm - she always had a calming presence, somehow, and her voice was gentle and reassuring. "Worry about her when we get there. Come on, best thing we can do for her is to hurry." With that, she turned and chased after her brother. Continued Here[/u]
