Powers:
Flight - Due to his large bat like wings Damien posses the power of natural fight. His wings have superhuman strength, and they have a very flexible skeletal structure that enables him to press them to the back of his torso and legs with only the slightest bulge visible under his clothing. Because his wings are much thinner than those of birds, Damien can maneuver more quickly and more precisely than birds or those with bird like wings. The surface of his wings are also equipped with touch-sensitive receptors on small bumps called Merkel cells, found in most mammals, including humans. But these sensitive areas are different in his wings as each bump has a tiny hair in the center, making it even more sensitive, and allowing the bat wings to detect and collect information about the air flowing over each wing. The skin on his wing membranes is a lot more elastic and can stretch much more than is usually seen among mammals. His bones are hollow, his body processes food more efficiently than a normal human body and does not store any excess fat, and he possesses a greater proportionate muscle mass than normal. As a result, his strength, speed, agility, endurance, reflexes, eyesight, and hearing are at their peak. Elements of his anatomy are comparable to those of birds rather then bats. His superhumanly sharp eyes can withstand high-speed winds which would damage the average human eye. His lungs can extract oxygen from the air at high velocities or altitudes, and he can cope with the reduced temperatures at high altitudes for prolonged periods of time, giving him a greater-than-normal capacity to endure low temperatures in areas such as the Arctic. While he generally flies below the height of clouds, Damien can reach almost twice this height with little effort. At his absolute maximum, he can reach the highest recorded altitude of a bird in flight — about the height above the sea level of Mount Everest — but he can only remain that high for a few minutes. Although flight is as natural a mode of transportation for Damien as for a bat, he can only fly nonstop under his own power for around half a day.
Dream Walking - in a deep sleep he is able to move from his own dreams into those of another. Inside these dreams he can see, take part in and even completely control them. He can create whatever he wants for however long he wants in the dream world. He cannot harm anyone physically while in the dream world but mentally he can continue to pleasure, torture etc. the individual till they awaken.
Demonic Forms and Powers – Damien can switch at will (and sometimes out of his control) into a demonic form which increases his strength double, causes his skin to become grey and leather like and his face to deform and resemble a demon bat. His hands become clawed and eyes become black as coal while his teeth become long sharp fangs. In this form he is more resilient and can take double the punishment to his body as he could in his natural state.
Through this transformation he has also gained the ability to generate various forms of energies for destructive purposes such as powerful blasts of black energy. The intensity of these plasma like blasts will often cause the target to experience a vast jump in temperature, cause objects to shatter, explode or disintegrate completely. These demonic power blasts also have a degenerative power on healing factors, slowing them and allowing even a victim with such healing to suffer for several minutes to hours depending on the strength of the healing factor.
Lastly this possession seems to have accelerated his already natural bat like abilities giving him heightened senses in the dark with the power of echolocation. Able to fire massive bursts of sound he can practically see in the darkest of dark. This power is also useful for pushing objects or people of massive size or temporarily deafening an enemy for a short period of time. However this power will also give his own position away in a stealth situation and there for must be used with care.
Abilities: thievery & con-artistry. Demon is also an extremely brilliant young man having excelled in all his classes both physical and mental while in school and training.
He is proficient in English, French and a little Italian. He has also begun to learn Latin to better communicate with his love.
He is a trained leader, top of his classes with Professor Logan, who hoped he would, in the future, be at the head of one of the Mutant teams.
Weakness:
Damien is sometimes known to be a bit cocky and fiery in temper which at times results in him getting into trouble.
His Demonic appearance is often seen as ugly and has the effect on some, how have experience with the supernatural, to distrust him.
Because of his experience with the dark powers of the demonic he has found that he is somewhat more susceptible to the powers of magic, especially the powers of light and good magic.
Paraphernalia and Equipment: Varies from situation to situation but normally he will not be seen without a pair of sunglasses due to extreme photosensitivity, his long black leather trench coat to hide his bat like wings and an old fashioned fedora which he prefers over ball caps and other modern hats.
Weapons: Due to his change in powers he no longer needs to carry any sort of offensive weapon. He does however possess a wrist blaster in the form of a brace which links around his right wrist. It was designed by Dr. McCoy as an offensive weapon when he had none. It is capable of firing high powered energy blasts.
Uniform:
Personality: Damien is sometimes seen as dark and brooding but in truth he is just very troubled and thoughtful concerning the life he has and now leads. He has had several hardships in his life which outweighs the good that has taken place. Though he does have a light happy side these days few who are not close to him see it. He has some close friends and though somewhat dark, which is often a turn off in a school situation, he was always seen as the popular guy in school, everyone seemed to like him and flock around him. However he is not the attention seeking type, he has always been the down to earth type, befriending the outcast as much as the popular crowed. Caring, considerate and kind but with a will of steel and a temper like fire he wants to make a difference in the world and make up for his past crimes.
History: Upon his birth Damien was immediately named the 33rd Duke of Dunvegan in Scotland. The boy grew up very happy for the first few years of his life; his parents showed him nothing but love and affection all the while trying there best to hide his physical mutation of bat wings which developed soon after birth. His happy yet secretive life continued uninterrupted until the age of 7 when a freak helicopter malfunction caused the Macleod parents privet air conveyance to crash into the Loch and cause the pair to drown.
After this tragic event Damien continued to live in the castle for several years under the care of his greedy and manipulative uncle Cyrus McKinnon whose aims were not to care for his nephew but to strip him of his title and fortune. Unable to find a legal way to become Duke Dunvegan Cyrus continued to care for Damien through his formative years, treating him more as a servant then a family member, and retained control of the fortune knowing it would transfer to the boy only when he reached adulthood.
When Damien reached the age of 12 his second power of dream walking started to manifest and become apparent to the townsfolk especially when he began to unintentionally appear in the dreams of numerous people. This opened up the perfect opportunity for Cyrus to be rid of his nephew, keep the title, the fortune and the land without having to resort to messy legal battles or even messier physical altercations that would undoubtedly be traced back to him. Secretly being a mutant himself Cyrus knew well the society of which he and his nephew were a part of and decided to send the boy to the United States of America under the pretence of care and compassion in order to help him develop his powers and learn what it means to be a Mutant. At the same time with the boy gone Cyrus McKinnon would continue to retain life of luxury he was now used to.
Once in the United States of America Damien was immediately enrolled in Xavier Institute for Higher Learning where he would spend the next 4 years learning to control his powers as best he could. He made many friends and learned many things including tolerance for mutants and humans alike. He loved his new home where he was no longer treated like a freak, an outsider or a slave but instead treated as an equal. Damien’s grades were startlingly impressive especially in the first two years of his being part of the Institute, his training in controlling and utilizing his powers were equally impressive as he quickly mastered not only the basics but many of the advanced lessons taught to him by the numerous professors.
Unfortunately over time he also began to develop anger issues and problems with authority. Fights soon erupted with many students and faculty, friend and foe alike to the point where he began to hate the place which he once loved and called home. In a final altercation with the head master of the institute MacLeod decided to leave of his own volition and start a new life for himself in the world abroad. Many were saddened at his leaving including himself and most notably the young woman who over the years had become his best friend and secret love. Leaving her was the hardest part of going but in the end he knew it was what he needed to do… something inside him told made it clear that those close to him would be hurt if he stayed. Though the Headmaster swore that he would always be welcome back he pledged to himself not to return until be could control and solve his inner demons.
Little did he know it would be harder then he ever imagined.
Over the next few months Damien lived on the street and though it was a slow process for the boy who had once been a Duke, he learned the skills needed to survive. He became a thief very quickly and stole enough money to move across country.
He eventually found his way to San Francisco where he decided would be his home for as long as it took. Thoughts of getting honest work ran through his mind often but he found that no matter what the mutant population or the good that mutants like the X-Men had done over the years, California was still a very intolerant place for people like him. He once again had to resort to his underhanded skills of thievery and conartisty. Over time however he found himself fallen in with a gang of young mutants in similar situations. He leant his skills and knowledge to them and over a short time gained the respect and admiration of almost every individual in the group… This again led to confrontation with the group’s leader who felt that Damien was trying to muscle in on his position. The two would clash for weeks until coming to blows. In the end Damien won and found himself the new leader of the group. He had a new family again… so he felt and thought… his leadership skills proved beneficial to the rag tag band.
Unfortunately darkness was once again on the Horizon for the young man. Weeks before the Alien invasion hit the planet earth word was spreading through the streets concerning a senator who was taking in young mutants with promises of feeding them and helping them make better lives. Several of the youngest in his own gang had taken to this offer and disappeared without a trace. Rumors spoke that this man was taking these mutant children in, abusing them for his own sick, perverted pleasures and then sending them away somewhere unknown. The fact that this was happening at all, let alone to young kids he had come to care for, angered Damien greatly. He decided it was up to him to stop it if no one else would.
He stalked the senator for several days, using the skills he had learned at the Institute, and finally set upon the man with violent fury and anger like he had never felt before. The man could defend very little against a mutant of his age vitality. Damien, taking the older man from his apartment and to the roof he flew high in the air and sadistically tortured the man, letting him drop and catching him again over and over until finally dropping him to his death with the same amount of mercy the old man had shown to the young mutants he lured to him.
This act caused grief to strike Damien and as he returned to his gang and went into hiding to avoid those that pursued him for the murder he found himself wracked with guilt and in many ways unable to function. His new family cared for him, going so far as to feed him when he would no longer move to do it himself. It was at this time however that a mysterious alien species beset earth. San Francisco, being a major US city was one of the priority targets for the alien’s and as mutants were seen as powerful and potential threats, more so then normal humans, they were hunted in the very streets.
As Damien sat in his catatonic state internally he struggled… he wished… he preyed and he demanded the power to rise up and help his family again…
It was not God who answered.
In his mind he could hear a voice and then another and another until it seemed that all around him voices spoke in unison and offered him the chance and the power to save his gang from the pain and death they would suffer at the hands of the aliens. Against his better judgment he agreed and for it he was damned for the ancient and powerful demon known as Legion possessed his body. For the first time in so long he rose up and with a new dark form and powers he struck out… but not at the aliens…
Without mercy the demon used his body to kill his friends, one by one, torturing them, mutilating them, making them scream for a mercy they would not provide. In his mind where the demons spoke, where they had locked Damien’s soul they rationalized that they would now not suffer at the hands of the aliens… that his wish had been granted.
Throughout the course of the war Damien or more specifically Legion in the young man’s body did not fight for either side. He has many bloody encounters both with the earth resistance and the alien scourge. Many fell at his clawed hands for pleasure or diabolical purposes and with each persons wails of suffering Damien himself found it harder and harder to fight the demonic presence in his body.
It was not till near the end of the war that Legion was contacted by his masters, The Hell Lords, and instructed on how to free them. It was the perfect time in their eyes with the world in chaos, for them to enter the mortal world and cull all who stood in their way.
On an attack against the Ancient’s Temple in the land of Kamar-Taj Legion laid low all that came before him in the young mans body. Monks, guards and students of the arts of magic all met their final death for he searched for a magical object deep within the palace, an object which would tare open the worlds and allow the Hell Lords to cross over.
It was never found.
As Legion entered the inner sanctum of the Ancient One, the demon came face to face (so to speak) with the once powerful wizard and now more powerful spirit of eternity himself.
The Ancient one, being an avatar of Eternity and a former Sorcerer Supreme could well see past the twisted dark powers of Legion to see the boy inside. He took pity on Damien and spoke, passed all the blocks directly to him, allowing him for the first time to speak with his own lips. Damien explained what had happened and though the Ancient One did not condom the young mans actions which had led to this he also made it clear that the punishment did not fit the crime. He offered him a chance at freedom and redemption.
Damien was leery for he had already been tricked by Legion but he decided to put his life in the hands of the benevolent being none the less.
The Ancient One used the powers of eternity itself to defeat Legion and banish him from Damien MacLeod. He made it clear that the demon was weak now and gone for a time but he had been touched by it and it would forever shadow him, waiting for the right opportunity to strike and retake its host again. He also told him that his path now lay back in the west, where this had all begun…
When Damien returned to San Francisco to find it in ruins after the war he realized immediately that The Ancient One had meant far before his possession and decided it was time to return to New York and the home… the family… the friends and love he left behind.
