(( OOC:Introduction: This is the story of Resin and how she came to stumble upon the wondrous world of Marvel. I hope it's okay that I used a goddess to talk to Resin; the goddess isn't actually a character of mine, so I guess that would make the goddess a NCP or something like that. If this isn't acceptable, I'll try to come up with something else.))
The sun shown through the trees. The air was crisp and clean and Resin emerged from the forest and started walking down toward a nearby brook. She sat on a boulder next to a brook, beginning her morning meditation. Her eyes were shut and her whole body was relaxed; her breathing was slow and steady. Resin was in "the zone", so to speak, so far in tuned with her self and the peaceful environment around her that she was easily startled when she heard a female voice calling her name."Resin.", the mysterious voice called out.
Resin's emerald green eyes shot open. Her body made free from the deep hold that meditation had on her. She looked over her shoulders, left then right, then she turned around to face the forest. She looked along the grass, up in the trees, and even up in the sky. She saw nothing. She turned back around on her rock and looked down at the brook; wondering if there was something in the water that was calling her name.
"Hello?", Resin called out. But no one answered. After a few moments of utter silence, Resin tried to continue meditating. She got back into her "zone", her breathing was slow and steady; she could even hear her own heartbeat at this point, which started to echo faster and faster inside the Kitsune's sensitive ears. There was an instinctual sense of panic, but as a ninja, Resin was able to resist her "fight or flight" intuition.
The voice called again. "Resin!" Resin stood on the rock, her hand ready to reach for her ninja stars if the situation called for it. Resin stood silently and heard the voice speak again. "Resin, sweet Kistune child, stand down and fear not. The goddess, Artemis, wishes you no harm, my dear child of the Forest." Atremis? Atremis is talking to ME?! The protector and creator of the very forest in which I am standing is talking to ME?! Resin thought to herself in disbelief. "Believe it, child, for it is true. Resin, I have watched over you since the moment you were born; protected you from harm and watched you become the woman you have become. I know there have been difficult times in your life, but it was all a part of my plan for you. Resin, your destiny awaits you beyond the forest."
Destiny? What destiny? Nobody told me about any destiny. Besides, my own parents didn't think I was worth having around; what destiny could an orphan possibly have? Resin thought again, to herself, shaking her head. "Great Goddess of the forest, I thank you for all the things you have given to me. I am blessed indeed. Praise be unto you. However, I do not think I am destined for anything special. I mean..." she said as she stumbled around for the right words, twiddling her fingers nervously. "I'm just me. I'm an orphan, not even deemed worthy enough by my own flesh and fur; how could I be destined for something more?"
"Ah, my dear Resin, but you ARE destined for something more. The gods in heaven above would not have wasted their time in creating something that did not ultimately have a purpose.", the goddess spoke, "Resin, there is evil in another dimension, another universe and I, along with the other gods and goddess of this world, believe that YOU should go and make sure that justice prevails -- that YOU are destined to and are now ready to fight right along side to heroes and do-gooders of this new dimension. You are chosen, Resin. You must go beyond the horizon, beyond the edge of the forest and make the gods and goddesses of Taurë proud. We are counting on you, chosen one. Do not worry, we will watch over you from afar. You are a skilled ninja warrior and the time is now. Go, Resin; and help those in need; protect the innocent, help those who need it, and see to it that justice prevails for every living thing. We wouldn't have picked you if we didn't think you were right for the job. THIS is your destiny, Kitsune child."
Resin, full of uncertainty and self-doubt, listened to the words of Atremis closely and carefully. All of Resin's doubts and fears seemed to melt away. It makes sense after all, they wouldn't just tell me that this is my destiny if it wasn't. And they did create me and the world I live in so they know what they're doing. The only one with doubt here is me. Resin thought to herself, considering her options as well. She could either stay here, against Atremis' wishes and live a simple, lonely life here in the forest with no real family or friends; or she could go on a wild adventure, fighting for good and justice, making friends and having new experiences along the way. She could live a miserable, unfulfilled life in the forest or fulfill her destiny. . . . . . .
"I'll do it, Great Atremis. I will do it, but....", Resin paused. "How exactly am I going to get to this new dimension? "Hmm...", Atremis thought. "The gods and goddesses could put you to sleep and then transport you to this new dimension in need of a hero like you. But after this, help from the gods and goddesses of your world will be difficult to obtain, but when the situation is dire, we will be there. Have faith in yourself, dear Resin; you will do great things. Now lay down and close your eyes, child. Let the deep sleep fall upon you...yes, that's it...."
Resin laid down on the cool grass and started to relax; her field of vision started to get hazy....hazier and hazier as the sleeping hold started to take over. She had no idea that this would be the last time she would ever see her beloved forest home; that the last memory of the forest would be this very moment. "Watch over me, Atremis. I will try to make you proud.", Resin whispered as she finally went to sleep. Resin's body started to glow and was sucked up into the sky like a speck of dust in a vacuum cleaner. She floated subconsciously through the heavens and through galaxies until she ended up in the Marvel Universe, just outside of New York.
